Is the shelf-life of butter in a refrigerator at 1 0 c 21 months?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.

I’m stuck on why you would freeze butter in the first place? I always buy what I need and then just use it. Butter does very much take on the “flavour” of the fridge, but if used properly and relatively quickly, it’s not a problem.

Same here. I use A LOT of butter and twith the prices - if it's on sale I buy lots and freeze. All my butters are in foil wraps and unless that is disturbed (never happened yet) there has never been any absorption of flavours (so far).
I get very cranky if I run out of butter and there's none on sale.

We buy butter at Costco in 4-packs. They go into the freezer until needed.

As long as I don't let my butter dry out, it lasts in the fridge for too long for me to remember. I know I get at least three months out of a pound (for sticks) of my high butterfat Texas butter. I don't pay attention to the price since I only buy it a few times a year.

I can hardly believe how little some people use. I go through a fair amount, at least a pound a month, if not more. But then I eat a huge amount of bread and often fry with it (+oil).

Unfortunately it is all around my middle 🤗.

I always worry that I wont have butter when I need it, so I usually keep a pound in the freezer.

Also, once in awhile when I see it on sale I'll buy extra. But Ive been buying Plugra and Kerrygold for the past year and they are hardly ever on sale.

have no idea why... but the other day I purchased a 1/2 lb of Kerry Gold. Paid almost the same price as a whole lb of store brand. :-p

So now, in what way does anyone suggest I use it to enjoy the difference from the peasant butter I normally buy.

Eat it on bread or a cracker. Maybe two crackers, one with the Kerry Gold and one with your regular butter.

Sort of thought that taxy.. just have some bread rising and that seems to be an excellent test... seeing as I eat the fresh bread with slabs of butter anyhow. Might as well make a test out of it.

OR... do you think a cracker is a better background. No interference from tantalizing aromas, etc.

I wrote cracker because then you don't have to eat as much as with bread, if you try it out side by side. Of course, you could cut the bread in half and butter each half separately. If you don't notice a difference with bread with tantalizing aromas, then try on two plain crackers, like saltines or water crackers.

HEB has a store brand called Central Market, and it is a European style butter (higher butterfat) -- with a slightly lower price and much smaller carbon footprint.
