I'm looking for a charcoal grill with adjustable height grill or coal tray that is made in USA or made of quality parts. I'm tired of getting cheap stuff on Amazon that falls apart.

Amazon does have a couple with cranks from Sophia and William and Captiva Designs but I've never heard of these brands and I don't know where they are made.

There are the Santa Maria grills and Argentinian grills, which look very nice, but they are many thousands of dollars. I'm willing to splurge a little, but not $3k.

Anyone know of any grills or brands like this?

Hello Leroydrankins!
BBQ forum and DC forum have joined together and I'm starting to look around. I know this has been your only post but hopefully you will see this. I hope your BBQ season is not over like ours is coming to the good weather's end.
If a Hibachi style isn't your thing, here's something similar, - an iron insert that goes on a gas grill? Charcoal on the grill is started with the gas and once lit goes from there. Not sure where you are but here in Canada we have them at a big box Store which I'm sure (if you are in th US) you would have them too. Here is a link to the store here to help you find something like that where ever you live.
Napoleon Cast Iron Charcoal & Smoker Tray Hope this helps!

Wow! Chief! the cheapest EGG I saw there was 800$ US. and that was for a mini. Next in line was 1500 +.... I stopped looking when I hit the 5K. LOL Leroy probably stopped at his mentioned 3K.
I knew they were expensive but that goes over the top!
but thanks for the link and the eye-opener anyhow.

Well, a Santa Maria style grill is pretty much exactly what you say you are looking for. No, they are not cheap, but a good one won't fall apart, and will probably last you a lifetime, if you take care of it.

A barrel cooker/smoker would be another option, although I don't know of one that is as easy to adjust for distance from coals to grate as a Santa Maria grill. Lower cost, but more work?

Good luck. I am a big time Weber fan, but none of them adjust like you want.
