Taxy, here is a good article on the differences. I find red beans a bit softer and creamier than kidney beans.

well, do you know anyone that eats uncooked beans? Or for that matter, rice, or grains, or flour, ...alot of stuff needs heat to be nutritious and safe. No one eats raw crabs (except tom hanks almost ate some raw crabs slop w/o cooking before he invented fire).Thanks, Bliss. I may never eat again.
