We have Canadian Geese here in Columbus, Ohio. They are nasty little  and I have to drive around them all the time going to and from work, since they hang out on the street where our offices are located because one of the big office buildings has a large pond with fountains, where they tend to settle.

And, for the record, goose droppings are gross. I have to often dodge those as well when walking to my car in the parking lot.
I've seen smaller dog 💩

We have those offensive, self-entitled jerky birds here of course. I think they should be rounded up, slaughtered, and fed to the homeless and destitute.

Edit: I didn't mean all of them, just enough to balance out the population a bit. They outnumber the ducks by far.

I'm sure they are thinking the exact same thing about us.
We probably have more meat per pound than those birds.
I'm sure they haven't seen our poop. At least mine, anyway!

Edited to add that I'm pretty sure they don't think, or else they wouldn't walk into traffic.

Also wanted to add: Soylent Green, anyone? Thinking that the homeless and destitute would prefer roasted goose.

Or fly straight down onto an interstate where traffic can't just stop on a dime because everyone is doing 65-75 mph.

On one of our highways here in the city, I saw 5 geese, all dead, all in the same area, having been hit by cars.

Der?

And I am sure a bird that size did some damage to the vehicles, and some nice people may have swerved to avoid them--hopefully not into another car. How dangerous!

Y'all must be getting the bad ones in your AO. I think there are seven kinds of Canadian Geese without looking it up.
I like Canadian Geese. I think they are pretty and majestic birds. And they mate for life.
I never met a bad one. They even leave me alone when I'm fishing on their pond. They just go to the other end.

After all. They're Canadian ;)

I love all the Canadian people I have met. It's the best stereotype I know of, that Canadians are nice people.

Yep, and it's a tight spot there, too, due to construction. If you swerve just a few feet too far, you're gonna hit a cement wall.

Hey, at least you are on the ground in a car. Airline pilots aren't so lucky. Ask Captain "Sully" what he thinks of geese.

MrJade always buys me something from the sales rack at the fashion shop. It’s neither here nor there whether it’s something I like or want. But it’s his gift, bless his heart.
I have been gifting myself little presents like this for years now - always something that benefits the home overall, so I can get away with it!!

Not very exciting but this is en route.
I don’t want a big sous vide tub and the water in a lidless pan does evaporate at quite a speed.

I wrap a sheet of foil around the circulator and over the top. If I'm careful, the foil lasts several cooks.
Thanks.
I had considered that and clingfilm (Saran wrap) under that but this seemed easier 😂
I saw a recipe for a 12 hour overnight cook and I know there’s no way my pot of water will last that long.

Thinking maybe a towel on top too but I’m not sure how much that will help. Maybe it will help keep the temperature more consistent without the wand having to work as hard.

I’m thinking that the less the heating element has to kick in the less up n downs in temp (no matter how minor) will equate to less steam and less evaporation.
I dunno, grasping at straws a bit! 😂

I think you're grasping at straws. I've done a 24 hour cook. There was no important loss of water.

The circulator cycles on and off the maintain a temp. within 1 or 2 tenths f a degree. The meat will not notice this small a change.

If you try a towel, you'll have a wet towel that sags into the water.

Try the foil.
