LOL Thanks, its not to big. 1/4 pound patties of 93% beef mashed between wax paper. The sauce is what makes it. Its my attempt and a special / secret sauce.

in AZ long enough to know that summer is gonna hang on another bunch of months.


Gosh people, you posted some totally annoying delicious Food Porn tonight. Now I'm hungry - and I certainly ate enough tonight.


I had plans for dinner. Chicken on the grill. A new salad - that needed grape tomatoes. Oops, forgot those tomatoes when I shopped last, so I ran up to the corner store to get a pint. $2.99? *sigh* Picked them up anyway because they smelled wonderfully tomato-y, and then I checked out the steaks. I think we might have had steak once this summer, but I'm not sure. Anyway, the certified Angus beef sirloin was on sale for $4.99, and they had one over an inch thick that was calling my name. Himself grilled it perfectly. We had baked russets and grilled corn on the cob along side. He grilled the corn first (we don't have that big of a grill) and I cut the kernels off while he did the steak and finished the potatoes. Along with our salad it was a perfect summer meal.

Pretty sure I'll be buying (at least) another steak before the sale ends Thursday night...

The Pirate made me a baked chicken thigh with just salt for seasoning. And a couple of spoonfuls of country style baked beans. He was surprised that I actually cleaned my plate this time. Two days in a row that I have eaten everything on my plate. That is some kind of new record for me. I hope he doesn't want to cook for me tomorrow.

gotta love it!

Funny, the Mister and I were talking about just that yesterday.
We have more 'Sunny Days' here in the middle of the desert as opposed to when we lived back in Kaneohe.

Folks ask us all Summer long, how can you stand the heat
(we live at 4000 feet above Sea Level, it doesn't go about 100 too often).
Well, we only have to endure harsh weather for about 10-12 weeks out of the year, the rest of the year, folks are cryin' to us how they wished they were here!

DH and I hunted for years for a retirement home well before retirement
(we knew we wouldn't be able to stay as retirees in Hawaii).
We wanted to be able to have it paid off when the time came.

DH went to school here in Arizona and felt that this would
be a good fit for us, and it has been.
Very similar lifestyle, laid back, quiet, loads of sunshine,
and the most crucial factor in the mix, the cost of living.
These things are most important to us.

We were able to purchase this home WAY cheap and then rent it out seasonally;
also we were able to use it ourselves and family members for vacations.
It has paid for it's self, really.

We do miss the Pacific Ocean,

but California is only a few hours drive away... NOW,
if I could get him to buy that RV, we could go off to the beach more often and cheaper

DH and I went fishing for the first time together. He fried the 2 brown and 2 rainbow trout he caught and I fixed cole slaw.
