The temperatures here will be in the 80s all weekend, which is totally unexpected for Labor Day weekend in North Texas. I plan to fire up the smoker. I have a couple of beef Dino ribs in the freezer, and that's what I'm thinking right now.

Anyone else doing any three day weekend cooking?

We're thinking short ribs. May give those Tuscan ribs you posted a go. Never got around to doing them last week. Inventory at the shop for a few hours tomorrow. After that. I have some yard work to get done so I'll be around the house all weekend. Maybe some eggs Benedict at some point.

Not sure what we'll do. Probably not any different from any other weekend. Except, by the end of today, Glenn will have finished mowing all the fields and he'll want to simply chill and be lazy.

When I was growing up, I had a good friend who had a problem determining if he wanted to take a nap or relax. What he ended up saying was that the was going to "take a relax." I think that will be the theme of our Labor Day weekend.

Napping is grand. 15 minutes changes the rest of your day. I have it down to a science. I set the timer app to 15 or 20 minutes and i'm out. 15 or 20 minutes I'm awake and ready to go. If I sleep longer than that, it interferes with my night's sleep.

When the kids were in school I sometimes took a nap - like Andy says, 15-20 minutes is perfect, you're refreshed and ready to go. Once or twice I overslept and when I woke up I was groggy and had a difficult time to get going again.

We're going to a friends house for the afternoon/evening Monday. Don't know what they're fixing, probably burgers/dogs. We're bringing drinks.

No three day cooking here.
But tonight I threw this on the gasser. Might as well start the weekend on a good note.

I think I'll have a rummage in the freezer and see what appeals to me. I would love to cook something on the hibachi, but I will have to see how much energy I have on Sunday and/or Monday. It's forecast to be showery Saturday, so I won't want to risk planning to grill in possible rain.

Today I'm going to heat up the leftover half rack of ribs from the other night, maybe cook a small can of Bush's beans, plus I also have some macaroni salad left over to go along.

Defrosting a porterhouse since yesterday and I'll grill it. Haven't had a porterhouse in ages. Butter chicken is now a regular in the rotation which I made yesterday and have it aging in the fridge for later. :)

Law Abiding Citizen.
Best use for a Porterhouse steak.
:ROFLMAO:

I haven't had one in a while, too.

Saturday I made a tomato pie with the last of the big tomatoes from the garden. We had it with a mess of green beans from the garden.

Last night it was the big lobster dinner with the family. Grilled clams, lobster, corn, potatoes. We made an orange, beet and arugula salad. My SIL made three gourmet quality desserts.

Tonight is grilled steaks using Serious Eats method with yet more green beans and potatoes from the garden. We also have a ton of onions from the garden so I’ll figure out something for them.
