Is there any way to rescue Macadamia nuts? They are expensive and I'm kicking myself for not freezing them as soon as...

Can I toast them up like I would for walnuts or pecans?

don't want to use them in cooking for fear they would bring that "stale" taste in.
Or would I be surprised and the "stale" would dissipate with baking.

They could be stale from being in the air, the air being a little moist and you could probably bake that out of it. OR they could be rancid, the oil is rancid, then the rancid flavor and smell will not get baked out of it. Nor would they be good for anyone to eat rancid food--the antioxidants have oxidized and it isn't healthy to eat.

If they don't actually taste bad, I think you should put them in the blender or FP. give them a coarse grind, and sprinkle them on ice cream with chocolate syrup on top (y)

Or make some banana nut bread with the crushed nuts.

My theory is if they are crushed any staleness won't be as noticeable.

But I could be wrong.
