I can honestly say I do not believe I have EVER had/eaten/partake of a tuna casserole. Even the sound just does not appeal to me. Tuna belongs in a salad or sandwich - that's what I grew up with and that's what I will stick with.
Thank You.
While I do like a good tuna casserole, there is nothing better than a tuna salad sandwich.

Know what else is amazingly delicious? Tuna salad stuffed into a fresh, homegrown summertime tomato.

I loved Tuna Noodle Casserole as a kid, and on the very rare occasion I have it now, I still like it.

I know I have never had any. It's one of those foods where I just can't handle the smell.

I get that! My dad is southern, so we grew up with tons of tuna salad.

Though my mom always made homemade tuna Mac, which was just homemade Mac and cheese, canned tuna, topped with breadcrumbs. It was the bombbbb.

Potato chips on top of mac!? Why have I never thought of that!

How does one stuff tuna salad into a tomato? Is it like a stuffed pepper situation? You scoop out the guts and replace it with fishes?

gag reflex....
I really wish I could get into sushi and seared rare ahi tuna, as I hear the texture is lovely.

My main concern though, is actually parasites. I know, I know. Those chances are slim to none, but several of my friends growing up somehow contracted them after eating at sushi restaurants. So now I'm squeamish.

Its actually delicious. My mom refused to make it so I did so as one of my first "adult" (aka college) cooking xperiments.

I love sushi. I really love rare Ahi tuna. I like a good canned tuna. I don't like the tuna that seems chipped and dripping wet in the can though. There are quality canned tunas.

I like 'Solid' or 'Chunk' Tuna, not 'Flaked'. And packed in oil NOT water. For a while it was really hard to find when the 'rage' first started. Actually almost impossible. Went without for a year or so. Then when they were available they were more expensive. I now get smaller sized cans.

Edit: I also highly recommend Rio Mare, Tonno all'Olio di Oliva. My go to tuna. Straight out of the can,

Yeppers. I buy tomatoes from my local farmers market just down the road all summer long. They have a huge tomato field where you can go out and pick your own. So I'll grab a few of what I call "stuffer" tomatoes. The great big ones. I cut off the tops and scoop out the guts (saving it for another use, like making tomato sauce or simply sauteing it up with minced garlic and putting it over pasta) then lightly salt & pepper the inside of the tomato, then filling the cavity with the tuna salad.

You can fill the tomato with chicken salad as well. So good and the perfect lunch.

Then you might not like tuna poke. I made this one, and it was very good. The ahi tuna was raw.

That's a pretty bowl, CD. I personally don't like completely raw fish, although I do love a nice medium-rare tuna steak.

OMG! That looks sooooooo good! I could eat tuna poke every day.

Here is the recipe on DC...
