Well hello everyone-
My name is Hagen - I am German but live in San Antonio tx.(long story)
I like cooking sweets (candy) what got
Me to you guys site.. I have two kids and I am
Married . English is my 2ed language so take it easy on my spelling..
Sorry in advanced for bad spelling .. Lol anyways I am going to start with something cool I am making tomorrow with the kids.. We are going to make icecream with dry ice.. Super fun to make before Halloween..

If anyone know how to make hard candy I want to talk to you!
I make some really good candy apples (any color)
I need some help with making candy and adding flavor it keeps burning on me..
The flavor that is..

Here is what I am doing
2 cups suger
3/4 water
1/2 corn syrup

Heat to 300F (with candy thermostat)
Now after pooring I add
My flavor and it burns or the cans gets
To cold and I can't work it in.. I really have a hard time
To even work it
Into any shap even pulling it once its pulled it get hard
Rights way! And I got glass strings that are great to eat but sometimes sharp!
So no good for kids!

That's ok- thanks I am sure there is someone here who knows some tricks .. I have made some cool candy apples just would like to take it the next step ..
I like making fun stuff with the kids like icecream with the kids understanding candy is to hot for them to help. thanks for saying hi
 
Welcome to DC.

My suggestion is when you reach 300 - turn off the heat - add your flavor then procede.

It can't burn that way and it's still hot enough to mix it in.
