I have 2 enameled oval CI Dutch ovens. Great for slow cooking on the stove top (hob) or in the oven.
But these are just a little too big for my toaster oven. To lug them up the stairs to use their oven, could do it but ... too much effort.

thanks once again for the replies and advice. But, i suppose what i am really after is a good pan/frying pan set upwards of a couple hundred pans. So all this talk of cast iron etc may be the best, but really im looking at just a pan set, that isnt from Tesco...slightly above average, and not too happy with non stick and all this talk of chemicals although..would be happy to use this if there is a good set/maker.

I am very fond of the set my late husband bought in 1989. It is layered stainless steel with the thick, steel clad aluminium plate at the bottom. It's an Italian brand called Lagostina. One of the things I like about it is that the handles don't have a rivet, screw, or nut on the inside. I hate the way those collect dirt and to get that area completely clean requires that one go at it with a sharp object. There has been no problem with any of the handles getting loose in use in all of those years.

IF you are close to a Costco, consider one of these: https://www.costco.com/s?keyword=pot and pan set

Is Costco in the UK? But I saw a Circulon set at the Costco site.
Amazon UK also have them - and a huge choice of them. Try here and see if any fit your needs.

All of my trip-ply (stainless/aluminum/stainless) pans are All-Clad. Not cheap, but they last forever. They are made in the USA, so not sure about availability or price in the UK.

+1 on this. You pass them down to your kids. You can buy cosmetic seconds for cheaper.

Isn’t Circulon nonstick?
Did I misread Garjobo's post? I thought Circulon was on his list of OK types.

But the site I saw had many, many collections of pans from Circulon. I did not explore them but I'm thinking they would have many kinds of finish, including the granite types. (which are great)

I dont think you misread it. But I've never seen a non-nonstick piece from them. They seem to pride themselves on their nonstick surface.
