When on military bases in Europe, both Canadian and US, cigarettes were referred to as fags. That's were I learned the phrase.

Hehe🤣 for us, a “convenience store” would be a bit bigger. Like a small supermarket.
We have mini-marts/gas stations in the mid west US. Like a small supermarket with fresh food sometimes salads and hot food too. It's nice having them if you are traveling in a car to stop for food along the way. More than a gas station less than a big supermarket.

When I was growing up in Eastern MA we used to call these little local stores either Variety Stores or just the Corner Store (because they often had a corner of the block). As a kid, as long as there were ice cold bottle of Coke or Orange Crush and snacks, we were happy.

Yeah, convenience, variety and corner were also used. I guess it was Mac's Milk and 7-11 because so many of them popped up as franchises. The Mom & Pop corner store were forced out competing with the big guys.

Really weird. There is nothing like this in Australia.
Is it just like mashed chillies? A kind of spread?
The one that @Steve Kroll shared looks like it is a chopped chilli version.
But really, people, are we getting to the point where a can is better than a knife?
A can is much better than zipping to a store to see if they have chilis, bringing them home, rinsing, chopping, etc. I love having them just to grab off of a shelf at times. :) It's is a bit mushy. Not something I generally add to fresh anything, but they do rock in breakfast burritos!
