Many of us post photos of foods in the daily dinner thread or baking thread, etc. It's a great way to appreciate the results of a person's effort.

I actually keep a file of photos in a "FOOD" folder.

So How do you feel about a member posting a representative photo of a recipe from a saved photo in a file rather than a current photo just taken right after the completion of the dish?

For example, I posted earlier this week that I made chocolate chip cookies. I added a photo of chocolate chip cookies I had made at an earlier date to illustrate. I always use the same recipe and they always look the same.

I also have a picture folder. When I post a dinner picture, it is a new picture. If I post a recipe later, it may be a new picture or one of my archived pictures from my folder.

I don't mind. I've done it myself. Several reasons, either I just plain forgot to take picture or if my dish just didn't look appetizing because the real recipe's picture was doctored up. But I'm pretty sure I say I've used a stock picture.
Also when I've saved a recipe (eg CMT) and then post it the original picture is usually there. I eventually put my pic into the CMT recipe but it takes me time.
But I feel it is improper to pretend a professional recipes photo is yours - say what it is!

And yes, I do have a file of FOOD, subfiles, Meals with more subfiles Pork, Beef, chicken, etc., or if not part of a whole meal under Meats (more subs for pork, seafood, etc). Desserts, Appies, etc. File is pretty big by now.

I don't always take new pictures of the same dish if they look the same using the same recipe/technique. That would take too much space on my drive, and no reason for it. I now have thousands of pictures in my folder.

I use OneNote to keep my recipes in. I like to have pictures of the dish with the recipe.

I repost food photos if the food looks the same. I make some kind of comment that it is a photo from the past. I don't see any problem with that. The idea is to give forum members a visual reference, and an old photo does that just as well as a new one.

When I post a recipe, it is probably a photo taken at the time I made the recipe/dish. Not necessarily the same day I post the recipe.
