Pie Crust

I don't know what is happening to the crusts for my pecan pies! It seems the filling soaks into the crust and the crust is hard, sticky and just plain yuk! Any ideas?

yes, one thing i do is baste the uncooked pie crust w/ a little egg white. bake for about 4 min. then fill and bake as usual.
