Have to mention. Bought 2 plants at the grocers. Little pineapple plants. LOL will post a picture later.
Have no idea if they will ever grow to anything worth while. Right now they have little pineapples on top of a stalk about 5" tall? So cute.
Are they a different strain to the ones that get big enough to harvest - no idea.
Just thought they were a neat gift.
The one for my hostess I've nestled in amongst a corner block that holds several large Aloes (growing all over the place) and a couple of other succulent types. Not going to mention it. Will wait about a week before she notices when she goes to water them. I'll start waiting for the email saying ... what???

Other for my DIL, don't know why I bought it for her... she even murders orchids. Just has that touch, LOL. Hope she doesn't hate me for it. LOL
I also told her to give it to her SO's Aunt or even my ex's girlfriend if she really really wants it to go.

I'm a firm believer that when I give you something it is yours to do with as you wish. Re-gift, sell... do with it as you will - it is yours. I'm hoping you will enjoy it but if not... don't stare at it and grumble behind my back. Pass it on!
Because if you think about it, down the line my gift to you was helpful. You did not have to buy/make/get a gift for someone else. You already had a ready gift for them, I gifted you saved time and possibly money with this. Always a silver lining.

@larry_stewart didn't you get a pineapple to grow? Or was it bananas?

@HeyItsSara I think lots of people try growing a plant from the top section cut off. Whether or not they get fruit, don't know. But it can make a good houseplant.... or so I've been told.

yes I did ( pineapples ) several times . the fruit is usually smaller than the mother plant , but smelled and tasted good.

Bananas didn't have enough time to get to a normal size or ripen. Got a new variety last year 9 inside now) that theoretically ripens quicker, so we'll see .

Also currently have another pineapple the im hoping will fruit. usually the plants need 1 1/2 - 2 years before they produce a fruit

Aren't pineapples sexual? You have to have a male & a female for fruit.
May I introduce you to my neighbours. Mr & Mrs Pine and all their little Apples. (ever play that game?)

Dare I ask what kind of game it is?

LOL we used to do that in the car... everyone would take turns to say something like Mr & Mrs Wood and all their little saplings.
Mr & Mrs Tree and all their little twigs.
Mr & Mrs Stone and all their little pebbles. ← my favourite

Dad of course was always the winner with the most. LOL I just used to repeat the others and be upset and pout when they wouldn't give me credit.
