Back to Popeye's for Hot Ones Collab limited time items.

At the first location I started off with the Smokin' Rojo Chicken Sandwich which was 5.49

The Sandwich was a Crispy chicken fillet with Los Calientes Rojo spread and pickles on a toasted brioche bun

They say this was medium spicy.

The Chicken was really tasty here.

The special Sauce here was really great. They might have put some extra on mine as the table and sandwich wrapper got hit from falling sauce.

This will lead to one nose blow though. The heat level for me was not bad at all.

They can keep this one on the menu. A big thumbs up from me.

I also purchased both sauce packets and paid a total of 1.50 for the pair.

Now for the sauce packets review..

To pair up the sauce packets I purchased some frozen Tyson breaded chicken breaded tenderloins and cooked them in the air fryer.

The first sauce I tried was the Pickled Garlic Siracha sauce packet. This one is the less spicy of the bunch.

This one was thin and dark red in color.

I did one squirt and missed the plate a bit.

This sauce though was fully flavorful though. I loved it.

Not really spicy but did get some heat from it.

A big thumbs up from me and worth a pick up.

On another piece of chicken I tried the Last Dab Apollo sauce.

This sauce was brown in color and thicker.

I put some on a piece of chicken and tried it.

It seems like this sauce was all heat with not much flavor at all. Did not like it much it all.

A medium sized level of heat here with a good few minutes of afterburn and I did not even finish the sachet.

A minor thumbs up from me here but worth it for hot sauce junkies to try out if they somehow have not had the sauce before.

The Chicken though was tasty and cooked up very nicely in the air fryer.

Later on in the week I went to another Popeye's location for one final item.

Darin’ Dab Ghost Boneless Wings

You get classic boneless Wings with Ghost Pepper dry rub served with a Last Dab Ranch dip cup. I think I paid 6.99 for this item.

They say this was supposed to be super spicy here and it was total flop here.

The Chicken I had was nice, hot and really good.

The dip cup just did not bring much heat at all. Not even the chicken that was fully dusted with dry rub here was that hot.

For me a minor thumbs up at best here on this item.

SO IN CONCLUSON:

Get the sandwich and Pickled Garlic Siracha sachet for sure. The Last Dab Apollo sachet if you have not tried the hot sauce yet and want some heat. Skip the dip cup.

i was friends with Al Copeland back in the 80s when i lived in New Orleans, he told me that when he 1st started selling chicken, the spicy chicken he sold was much hotter than what we get today , and that people complained it was to hot so he toned the heat way down to what we get today , and that seemed to be the what folks wanted ,. and as they say , the rest is history
