My Mom just got home from the hospital and wants me to make her Wonton soup. My little liquor store here does not have Rice wine. What are some other options? Please and thank you. :)

Good luck and welcome home to your mom! I think any vinegar, maybe diluted a bit, would work.

You local supermarket should have rice vinegar in the International aisle or with the other vinegars. You can cut it with a bit of water.

You're a good daughter, and welcome home to your mom.

Are you looking for rice wine (Sake) or rice wine vinegar? The latter can be found in a grocery store. To me there's no real substitution for rice wine vinegar, sometimes just called rice vinegar.

Heh. I read rice wine as rice wine vinegar. Yes, rice wine is sake.

Remember Laugh-In? "It may be rice wine to you, but it's sake to me!"

Thank you everybody. :yum: I just looked for another recipe, but now I know I can use sherry next time.
