I loved it, but I wish I went a month or two earlier to have seen it at peak time. The gardens are run by some garden club or society ( I forget the specifics , as I wasn't paying attention, I was too busy admiring the garden). A few week ago they had a harvest festival, I wish I was able to coordinate with that date too, but just didnt work out.

Cranberry Picking
Made a pitstop at home for my daughter's birthday , then off again to Massachusetts to pick cranberries.
A few weeks ago we visited a small farm. This farm, theoretically, is the largest cranberry farm in the world. They are the biggest supplier of cranberries to Ocean Spray (which is located only a few miles from the bogs).
Here we witnessed the harvest in action. We saw dry bogs, flooded bogs and even a bog under construction.
We then got to dry pick cranberries , which is the way they did it back in the good old days. Apparently they only started flooding the bogs in the 70's .
They do have machines that dry pick also, but prior to that , it was all hand picked
Then, after dinner, relaxing in our hotel in Newport Rhode Island, overlooking the port. Great view from the room.

Tomorrow back to NY, then a quick turn around, picking up my daughter, and back to connecticut to the casino to celebrate her 21st birthday, teach her how to lose money, and take her to a place where they make truffle mac and cheese char side , in side a flaming cheese wheel. I saw it done a few weeks ago (wasn't even on the menu, type of thing you just have to know about). This time since I know about it, Ill order it for the table. Since my wife is vegan, just means more for me and my daughter ( and I dont think my daughter likes truffles, so more for me 
)

Well, finally My Road Trip is complete ( including the pre and post road trip, trips).
After 3500 + Miles, 14 states, multiple cities, it all came to an end mid day today as we ferried back from Connecticut to New York.
This last leg was to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday. We took her to a casino in Connecticut to eat, gamble and see a comedy show. My wife and I had eaten in this restaurant a few weeks ago and saw them prepare a truffle mac and cheese table-side inside a flaming wheel of cheese. My daughter loves mac and cheese, so I figured this would be a special dinner for her. When they found out it was her birthday, they gave us a bunch of cannolis for dessert ( on the house). Took a few pics on the ferry of new London Connecticut, which looks really nice from the water, a few light house, our hotel room harbor view when we were in Newport RI a few days ago, and probably the most welcome site of all, the Welcome to New York sign. Although we had a blast seeing all these sites and experiencing many new things, It will be a delight to not do any major driving for awhile, and cook and eat a bunch of home cooked meals. One thing I love, after a trip like this, is my first trip to the grocery store, where I have to restock the kitchen.
Wont be leaving New York again until late January, when I head up to Boston. That will be much shorter and easier than this one. Just a one city trip ( for business). Get there, park my car, and forget about driving for 4 days.
