Saturday, 17th January 2026 - what's for dinner?

I had lunch with a couple of friends so had no plans for dinner. I made hotdogs (standard white hot dog rolls, pork sausages, caramelised onions and mine had chimichurri on top - Ollie had ketchup and English mustard). Hit the spot with minimal effort!

Like Rocky would say, I think I invented it

One day I felt like having stew, but didn't want the extra work of cutting the meat into bite size pieces, flouring it and browning in batches. Nor did I want to break out the DO. Which is a PITB to wash. So I floured the chuck roast, seared it, and cooked it in a skillet with the usual vegetables.
Then I ate it like a steak.
I guess technically it's skillet roast that tastes like stew

It's Sunday here. Normal dinner
Leg lamb roastys. It's the last leg I got real cheap.
Made apple crumble for dessert.
Just made 4 bottles of raspberries coulis as well.

I made some angel hair with a tomato-based pasta sauce I made a few days ago that had ribeye steak, onions, mushrooms, and herbs in it. Topped with parmesan. It hit the spot!

Had Tomatoe and Cheese Soup with Bacon bits at my local, along with a beer or two or three - hmm I think???

Am now thinking about making some plain ordinary Toamtoe Soup and fresh white bread with lots of butter

Had leftovers of last night's beast and gravy, etc. intentionally. Glenn is still feeling a bit rough, but better, so he really didn't want much.

The cost of lamb here (US) is rediculous; however they justify the cost by telling us it is Australian Lamb. Whether it is or not is another thing.

Yeah I didn't do the currency exchange factor but a leg of lamb here is about $6.99lb USD. And it's usually Aussie lamb.

It probably is Aussie lamb. American lamb is more expensive.

He's bias then - everyone who is anyone knows Aussie Lamb is the only REAL Lamb
