Crab casserole???
I won't knock that either, but I've never had tuna casserole yet. Maybe I should wait on the crab casserole, lol.

Crab, shrimp (prawns) Lobster - it is all good, very good. I recall my first job ever was in Schelite Mine on a little island called King Island in the middle of Bass Strait (the water between Tasmania and the mainland).

The Island was reknown for 3 things - Schelite, Seaweed Salads AND LOBSTER. I ate fresh caught Lobster every day - the only good part of the job :)

Tuna casserole (or mornay) is one of the cheap and cheerful meals my mother used to make.
Canned tuna, macaroni, white sauce and parsley.

I've said it before, but I've always meant to try it.
Growing up my mother was never into casseroles that much. If at all. Fish was baked or broiled. Never canned.

FWIW, I never had a peanut butter and banana sandwich either ;)

One of our favorites is Tuna Salad using Packaged Wild Caught Tune

It really is pretty good for a processed item :)

Isn’t it what is hoped by your parents though?
I made ten times what my father made.
I made my mother a tuna morney using wild caught fish, hand made pasta and a sauce with premium ingredients.
Was it better?
Perhaps. But the love? No.
My mother made our meals with what she had and throwing money at the same food doesn’t make them any better, IMO

I bet she loved it, though, and I am sure you put a good bit of love into making it!

Crab is from memory the first thing that I caught and ate all by myself. The very meaning of sustainable
I grew up in a small fishing village in Florida on the Gulf of Mexico (they tried to rename it the Gulf of America but I am not buying that, LOL) that is now a resort destination. My dad took me fishing and crabbing pretty regularly. Great memories.

When she passed away some months later, nothing mattered
I think parents tend to like whatever their kids make them - I think for them it is more about the thought than the actual food...
It's true. The year before my mom passed away she was raving about my crabmeat stuffed grouper to someone, so I went out bought everything the next day and made it for her. She didn't eat much of it because towards the end of her life she just didn't have much appetite, you know? But she loved it and appreciated it because I did that for her. It could have been tuna casserole and she would have loved it just as much I think!

I miss my folks, my aunts and uncles and brothers and cousins and all. Because the longer you live, the more people you will say goodbye to. I guess it’s just life.
Not intentionally @Shining Wizard

That is a sad fact of life - I also lost my mom and then my little sister 2 years later. You never think it will happen ..........
I think that talking about them honors their lives, so yes, it's sad but not necessarily dark, you know what I mean?
