And now I’m trying my hand watermelon sashimi. It’s been cooked and is cooling in the fridge.

A couple of links in case anyones interested.

I looked at the BBC recipe first. Immediate confusion. The ingredient list said,
That did not seem right at all, not enough soy sauce or ACV for an entire watermelon.

Why weren't they saying how big the watermelon should be.

When I think of watermelon, this is what comes to mind:

Yes, I know they come in many smaller sizes, especially in Europe. But, you can see why I expected to see a size. I see the other recipe specifies "1 Morrisons small watermelon". I assume that Morrisons is the name of the store, not a type of watermelon.

Anyhoo, I was entertained.

We only tend to get small watermelons over here.
And yes agreed thats not enough. I used the Morrisons recipe and put the BBC one on there because supermarkets often block traffic from other countries.

I often use the ingredients list (especially in marinades and dipping sauces purely as a guide) however this time there was enough (of the Morrisons recipe not the BBC one).

Not sure if this gives you any perspective but this was the size of it peeled -

The knife has a 15cm (just shy of 6”) blade.

That's about what I figured after considering the amounts of other ingredients and the fact that watermelons in Europe tend to be smaller than that. When I moved to Denmark, I was very surprised the first time I saw a watermelon with an approximately 8" diameter.

Yep small and often not very good.
Which is strange because the precut watermelon cubes and fingers are usually good and that melon must be coming from somewhere close!!
