So I had no dinner at all. I went to Winchester for the day with one of my oldest and best friends. It was a shopping and lunching sort of day. I did not get what I went for. (But I bought some nice things!)

We lunched at a pub and the food was not overly good (other than the chips which were actually excellent). I had a supposedly smashed burger with stilton. (The burgers were not smashed and actually I had a couple of tiny bits of what I think was bone - revolting. Almost no stilton. Very dry.) B ordered Welsh Rarebit on Sourdough and got a smear of something on two bits of bread. She still has no idea what Welsh Rarebit should taste like. I have promised to make it for her so she understands how tremendously good it should be!

That aside, I have had a wonderful day!

What has everyone else had / or is going to have?

I've had some veggies and some meat marinating (separately) since around noon for fajitas.
The pico is made, too.

There's a very large piece of cod under those lemon slices. Shingled slices of potato under that.
I am now suffering as I ate the whole thing. It could have easily fed 2.

It was delicious and I had no problem scarfing it down. Sort of had to as I can't eat reheated fish... so ate rather than toss. What's a dragn to do...?

yeah, yeah, I know... check the size before hand!
But once defrosted, had to cook it or toss it as it was border line.

And some nice broccolli there too. I love fish with simple slices of lemon over the top.

Another time, what about putting the leftover fish on a sandwich without reheating it? Or maybe use it instead of tuna in a tuna salad. Didn't you mention liking canned salmon? What do you do with that?

leftover fish on a sandwich
gag

instead of tuna in a tuna salad
nope, might possibly do that with salmon but doubt it

Actually I ate it when Mom made our lunches and was salmon salad but it was borderline on the gag factor. I will do it once every 3 or 4 years, more than that the ol' g factor starts to kick in.
Last 10/15 years it's been fresh only - and never reheated. I do like and make fresh salmon patties, think both you and I have posted the recipe from ATK for those.
I did eat Mom's Salmon Croquettes: tinned salmon mixed with lots of left over mashed potatoes, shaped into blunt topped cones, rolled in bread crumbs and pan fried. Check your Joy of Cooking for the recipe.
I made them once just didn't get something right but I also think it was the "Mom factor" that made them so good.

That would not have been me. I have no interest in any recipes that involve cooked salmon - talk about gag factor. *shudder*

Salmon patties from canned was something my mom would do. I could never get past the chalky vertebrae bits that get pressure cooked into the salmon my mom bought. I strongly disliked that meal. Probably why I still avoid regular salmon except for smoked salmon.

Looks like I forgot to post my meal. I had some of the leftover chicken Stroganoff over brown basmati rice and a salad. As I was about to start eating, I started to get a migraine aura, scintillating scotoma, which lasted 15 minutes, but it's pretty. The headache started about an hour after the aura finished.

Never had to worry about those, what didn't get mashed in of the bones and skin, mom gobbled down like it was her last meal on earth. LOL
I'd stand and watch in fascinated horror.

When I used canned salmon - I'd sit and pick out every little thing that looked even remotely like bone or skin, unfortunately it also meant I tossed a lot of the 'grey' parts of the flesh.
Canned boneless, skinless salmon was also available but at a higher price which I wasn't prepared to pay. Eventually I just stopped buying.

I still do this now!! I can't stand the slimy grey bits or the chalky bone - though these days I tend to spend more and get the "skinless and boneless" tins - but I still have to give them a good check over!
