This is my favorite sloppy joe recipe! I made a new dip recipe also.
The dip is good! ***Read notes!
I prepared the sloppy joes in a Dutch Oven and then I put it in a crockpot.
You can just keep it in the Dutch Oven and cook it on low.
Sloppy Joes:
I found the recipe on this link; I changed it some.
1-1/2 To 2-lbs. Lean Ground Beef
1- Large White Onion, Diced
1 Large Green Bell Pepper, Diced
2 Cups Diced Celery
1 Bunch Garlic, Diced
***Or Minced Garlic From A Jar
2-(8-oz.)-Cans Tomato Sauce
2-(10-3/4-oz.)-Cans Tomato Soup
Few Dashes Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce Or Tabasco Sauce
1 Tsp. Or More Chili Powder
***I Just Sprinkled Some Chili Powder Over The Too, Stirred It &,Sprinkled More On Top; Stirred It Again
Brown Sugar, To Taste
Garlic Salt & Pepper, To Taste
In skillet, add ground beef and diced green peppers.
Put lid on and cook on low heat until hamburger is done and the green peppers are tender. Drain grease, if necessary.
Put hamburger and green peppers in Dutch Oven or crockpot.
Add the rest of the ingredients, stir, put lid on and cook on low all afternoon, stirring occasionally.
***You can also put it in the crockpot.
Serve on seeded hamburger buns; sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Smashed Avocados:
***Read Notes***
Scoop out the flesh of 4 avocados into a bowl
and smash with a fork.
***I smashed them on a cutting board to make it easier.
Put smashed avocados in a bowl, add 1/2 cup Pico de Gallo, 1 T. Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 1 Tsp. Kosher Salt, 3 or 4 grinds of pepper, stir well.
***I was out of Olive Oil so I used Olive Oil Spray
***Next time I’ll taste it and see if it needs salt and if it does, I’ll just use a pinch.
Cover bowl with Plastic Wrap touching the surface to prevent the top from turning brown, until ready to serve.
