Ingredients

Cinnamon-Clove Simple Syrup
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 10 whole cloves
  • Vanilla bean (optional)

Smoked Campfire
  • 1 dash of Liquid Smoke
  • 1 jigger (3 tbsp) Cinnamon-Clove Simple Syrup
  • 2 jiggers Bourbon Whisky
  • 1 jigger Scotch Whisky
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh orange juice
  • Cocktail ice
  • Orange twist

Instructions
Combine the sugar, water, vanilla bean, cinnamon sticks, and cloves in a pan and cook until the sugar has dissolved and a syrup has formed

Let the simple syrup cool to room temperature and put into an airtight container

Once the simple syrup has cooled, fill the glass with the liquid smoke, brown sugar, and orange juice, and stir until the brown sugar has begun to dissolve

Add the ice to the glass, then pour over the whiskies and simple syrup, and stir until everything is combined

Serve with an orange twist

It doesn't matter, to be honest. :) Ultimately it's so that you can cool the drink down, but I find that the bigger the ice cube, the slower it melts.
