While I am not up to Kleenex's outstanding reviews, I tried a new product at CostCo and felt a need to share. It does not taste like an authentic pho, but is very satisfying in texture and flavor. According to the box, it says it is a beef-flavored soup, but I found it less so and thought a few slices of CostCo's rotisserie chicken would make it a definite meal. There are nine bowls in a box priced at roughly 11 bucks.
In each bowl, there are packets of minced veggies, flavor mix, and hot oil. Add the packets for the mix and veggies to the bowl and fill with water to the line. Microwave it for 2.5 minutes. Let stand for a minute and enjoy. The oil can be added to give a hint of heat.
The veggies were there for a hint of texture and flavor. They lent themselves well to the soup, but there was room for other items to be added if desired. Peapods, broccoli, etc. Easy. It would be simple to put add-ins but it was not needed.
There is also an option to put hot water in the bowl rather than use a microwave. In short, this is versatile, tasty, and has an enjoyable texture for less than $1.25 per bowl (while it is on-sale.) After the sale, it will be $1.65 per bowl. Still a good deal.
