In case you haven't heard, Fossett completed the solo plane trip around the world. His earlier feat was that he completed a solo round the world trip in a balloon. All well and good but his course was below the 40th southern parallel which shorted his course by about 8,000 miles. He claimed victory but I can't undertstand why. Steve Fossett has a pretty low credibility score as far as I'm concerned.

I agree, Elf! Quick rant, if I may! If you want to break a record, don't take short-cuts and don't whine about it, just do it. I think Nike owes me a million bucks right about now,
