Thinking about a new scale...advice/suggestions!

i looked at it and there's a couple of things i'm not sure if i myself would like , i don't think i would like that the platform unsnaps for cleaning , that might be great at 1st but to me at least it seems like it would cause problems down the road , the other thing is the face that can be extended , not sure why but that bothers me somehow

I recently had the same problem and bought two scales one for very small amounts one for larger amounts. The small one came with a calibration weight that I like and I’m happy with that one but the larger one I am not happy with.
I specifically searched for ‘large platform scales’ and bought a well reviewed one that in the pics looked like it had a large platform, the description said it did, it does not.
It wasn't expensive and tbh I suspect it will soon be relegated to being a back up when I buy a replacement.

I even looked at old fashioned mechanical scales as they go up to 20kg (44lb) but they are bulky.
I considered the oxo one but am not taken with the construction, something about dangly wires and cooking liquids put me off.

Now I’m thinking about a split scale (search 'split scale kitchen’ on amazon) where the reader and platform are separate but connected via bluetooth.
Or less complicated a bakers scale, these are larger (but not as large as you’d think) and can go up to 100’s of llbs. They’re often listed as ‘heavy duty scales'

I am pretty sure that @FrankZ has a scale that does the really small weights. I don't remember ever reading that anyone else here has something that precise.
I have the OXO mentioned in this thread.

I also have an Acaia Lunar for making espresso.

In the cabinet I also have an inexpensive scale that I use for weighing less than a gram (does .01) for when I need to buffer the RO water.

Goodness, just remembered I also have a scale that can weigh less than a gram...
I took a picture and posted it once a long time ago. Can't find the picture so ...bear with... I'll take another!

Well, I didn't just take one.... oopsie
It was my dad's (chemical engineer) - did he use it? Probably in university...

Looks good.
I’m not happy with mine. I just used it and it does that thing where it doesn’t register the first flurry’s of something.
I was grating parmesan and I got to the point of “Oh now common, theres loads on theres, blinkin’ show it!!”
I hear ya. It's like it keeps resetting to zero, since it hasn't increased by a whole gram yet. My current scale does that and so did the previous one.

Now I don’t know who to call… paging Newton, Archimedes, Galileo - cooking forum heading towards meltdown 😂
