@RavingLunatic I'm glad there are other people like you that also have lower blood pressure. Doctors will sometimes say it's normal for older people to have higher blood pressure but the studies show it has to do with diet and exercise (and drinking and smoking). In countries without processed food blood pressure is stable throughout life even going down as they get older.

My husband and I have no metabolic problem yet. He’s even older than I am, and has very low blood pressure.

My harvest today, I’m going to start grafting tomorrow so I just harvest some of these to give the trees some energy to focus on grafting.

@Rascal, thank you again for reminding me, as I sit here, cold, middle of winter, with snow on the ground, that summer will be here one day. And besides that, I'll be complaining about how the mosquitos are so bad, the ticks are having a good year, the temperature is too high, I'm sweating, and the humidity is miserable and the plants are suffering from some kind of fungal disease.

Weighing out the advantages v disadvantages, I still prefer hot Summers, if only for the fact that they are always much shorter than winters anyway, so even when the heat and humidity become unbearable, I'm comforted by the fact that it won't last long, not like Winter cold which seems to last forever. 😕

Never really thought about it other than I would certainly miss all the seasons. As long as I can get out side and have "fresh" air, whether it is blistering hot or cold enough to freeze the brass off of tin monkey, I need to get outside. Yup, I dodge right back into the controlled air confinement of the house, but at least I know that the air is there!

We are in our third month of summer and I think we've had about a week of good weather
Our best months are march and April

Sure, I will have all of Discuss Cooking to keep me company and chat with on the flight.

and actually there are no direct flights but major airlines like Air Canada and Air New Zealand offer connecting flights, usually routing through Vancouver (YVR) to Auckland (AKL) or other NZ cities, with total travel times often exceeding 20 hours. You'll typically book a flight to Vancouver and then connect to an Air New Zealand or Air Canada flight to New Zealand.

Yeah, I was thinking I would do DFW to Hawaii, spend a couple days there, then on to New Zealand. Even flying first class, I don't think I could do 15 hours on one flight. I've done DFW to London a few times. That is ten hours, which is pushing my limits.

I flew LAX to SYD at about 15ish hours. I got a full night sleep. It wasn't as bad as the 6 hours to LHR from here.

I do that too. I break my long trip in half, stay at a nice expensive hotel and still come out ahead. No need to buy expensive business class seats, trust me we tried using points before for a few years so we know.
This way we can prolong our traveling for years to come.
We’re retired for over 10 years, so we are not in a hurry to get anywhere. We take our time.

With temperatures in the teens for the last month and over a foot of snow ( for the last 2 weeks +) I decided to dig out some kale for dinner. At first it looked like the freeze did it in, but after a few minutes inside, it bounced back and looked great. I've always been amazed how resilient kale ( and my scallions) are. They are my only outdoor crop that is available for harvest 365 days a year. Oh yeah, so is the parsley , but haven't dug that out yet.
