TRUTH !!
River Jude Phoenix (nee Bottom) was born in 1970 in Oregon, but three years
later his family joined a religious cult and were shuffled about to Texas,
Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Growing disillusioned, they moved to
California, and eventually River Phoenix became a child star after the
release of "Stand By Me" (1986). Despite success in "Running on Empty"
(1988) and "My Own Private Idaho" (1991), he struggled with drug abuse. He
collapsed outside West Hollywood's Viper Club after consuming a lethal
cocktail of cocaine, morphine, Valium, pot, and cold medicine, and died on
October 31, 1993.
