I never confuse the impossible with the improbable. And I would rather have something that is calmly fatal than a death by botulism.

I have a private label can of tuna in the cupboard, but it says in was canned by El Pollo Del Mar, so it should be safe.

they say that some spores could be caught in the flip top. if you have tuna that's canned with a straight top, that you open with a can opener, it's not affected.

Sara, that just doesn't make sense. I'm sorry. But the recall is about possible contamination from lids that are compromised.

All lids can/could be contaminated. One should always wipe them down, including soda's. Discard any and all cans that are suspect,

You are correct that cans needing a can opener are just fine.
