I've been eating wfpb'ed (whole food plant based) which is close to vegan except low fat high fiber low sat low sugar and haven't had a sloppy joe in 6 years. Pathetic.
I bought some TPV to make some sloppy joes. They turned out OKAY! Sloppy, hot, smoky tomato-y onion molasses filling for a sandwich. Messy to eat.

Main advantage: very fast to make. Maybe 10 minutes and we had baked beans on the side to just warm up.
Mr bliss liked it a lot since we hadn't had anything like it in so long.
I should have aimed to overspice it to get a really strong flavor because that's what I like, but it wasn't bad. I loved using the onions instead of the peppers in it and the molasses really helped it.
I'm sure I will make it again, much spicier!
It was 0.34cent/ounce at the grocery store, dry goods aisle, and 0.43cents/ounce on amazon. I only used 3/4th's of a cup and that'll make 4 sloppy joes.
It is a dry 'crumb' and immediately soaks up the liquid. It only gets a little bigger than it was dry. 1 cup TVP add 1 and 1/2 cup hot liquid, equals about 2 cups, enough for 2 people.

"Better Than Manwich" Vegan Sloppy Joes
Craving sloppy joes? This vegan sloppy joe recipe tastes JUST like the classic sandwich (and it's ready in 20 minutes). Meat-eater approved!
