What is the usual fat content in the UK for 'single cream'?
Would that be like our 18%, 10% or heavier as in whipping cream (35 or 40%).

Just saw it listed in a recipe from Waitrose & Partners.
it called for "150 mL pot single cream"

do you buy it in individual 150 sized pots?

Interesting question.
I don’t use single cream. It’s very rarely asked for in recipe’s here and I tend to sub with a reduced amount of double cream anyway.
But across the board single cream appears to be a consistent 19.1% fat.
And yes available in half pot size of 150mls 👍

One last question, but as you don't normally buy perhaps you've never noticed... but are they in glass or plastic pots?

Always plastic pots apart from one premium brand called Tom Parker who sells his dairy in cute mini milk bottles at slightly different sizes to the norm.

At first we used to get a brand of creme fraiche, yogurt, butter in little glass pots, I saved them all. When moving I had a whole shelf full and finally decided to chuck them, why not, could always get more. (my girlfriend helping me pack gave a huge sigh of relief - she would never have kept them in the first place - LOL.)
I get here and now they are only in plastic. When back there for a visit, first thing I did was check the shelves - nope all plastic. 😒
So when you mentioned the 150 ml sizes, I got sort of excited! 😄

Ah I did wonder why you were asking about the pot!
Almost everything is plastic now. Last week even my sesame oil turned up in a plastic version of the glass bottle it previously came in, it’s nowhere near as pleasant to use, although I couldn't put my finger on exactly why

Another reason you need to come visit. I have saved more than I can use. If you want, you can have dibs on them. I can even let you have a few of the plastic lids that were sold separately. I saved all of them until they switched to plastic.

LOL, yeah I only got a few of the lids. They are perfect for the grands to be able to help themselves to yogurt from the fridge plus jelly and puddings.

I'll put it on my list for next time!
