We're Freezing! Friday, 2-3-2023

[Cooking Goddess]

From the looks of a map I saw earlier today, everywhere north of the Rio Grande is locked in a frigid grip...except the south half of Florida. I made soup, Dixie Crossroads "Original Shrimp Soup". Gotta use the less dense foods from the freezer so they don't spoil. I served cheesy garlic toasted ciabatta rolls along side.

I'm having shrimp tonight as well, but tossed with angel hair pasta, scampi style.

Cold here too. Although other areas have it worse than we do, today's high was 20 with a 0 degree wind chill.

-26°C (-15°F) here today, so we had Habitant French Canadian Pea Soup and grilled cheese sandwiches with onions and salsa.

Meal sized salads, chopped greens, tomatoes, apples, broccoli, wheat berries, braised soy beans, mustard dressing for me, tomato dressing for him.
Zucchini raisin bread, air popped dill popcorn.

@blissful, while your dinner salads sound filling, I couldn't do cold meals like that in cold weather. I need warm hot food to warm my core.

I hear you! There are cold days we start with something like oatmeal, then chili mac for lunch, hot zucchini bread out of the oven for a snack and finish with a stir fry because salads are too cold!
Another option for me, when it is a 3-4 cup salad, I'll microwave it for 1 minute to bring the temperature up to room temperature. That helps too.
