@Katie H How do you find crochet compares to knitting? I've heard that crochet is faster. I'm not a quick crafter even when doing a sequin by numbers kitty coaster. I have knitted, but it is very slow-going and I only do the simplest of stitches.
A little late, but I can crochet a heck of a LOT faster than I can knit. Of course, I learned to crochet before I learned to knit, so take that as you may. One of the last things I worked on was a lap throw made out of several different color schemes in variegated yarns in what was called a flame stitch. Below is a close up of the stitch.
I love making this one.
Peaceful Pastels Afghan Pattern
Crochet this afghan using this downloadable pattern and our DK Sport weight yarn. When completed it will be a generous 50" in diameter. Bernat Baby Coordinates, which had 388 yds per skein, was used for this 2005 project, which you can recreate with any of our varied DK sport-weight yarns...
It uses 2 threads of baby yarn at the same time to create the shading effect so goes really really fast. I was making 1 years ago when we had a booth at a trade show and got most of it made in the 2 days of the show. Nearly every female at the show had to come and talk about it. Gave 1 lady the printed pattern because it was so simple after a few rows that I didn't need the print out. All of our guy friends our age at the time teased me about old lady crafts. I guess it could also be an any use afghan with different colors and a slightly larger needle.
