Happy New Year! ? Dinner last night was braised short ribs with veggies over mashed potatoes. For dessert, I made my third Swiss roll - it was supposed to be a Galaxy ? cake with cool sprinkles, but the sprinkles were delayed and won't arrive until Tuesday. Drat. Anyway, I'm getting better at rolling them and hiding any flaws

We're having Low Country Boil for dinner. I've not started on it yet. I've got Alaskan Crab legs, large shrimp, red potatoes, Corn on the Cob and Kielbasa too. So we are set!

We'll have French Bread too and maybe a salad. We'll see.

Wishing everyone a Happy and Safe New Year!!

Your Swiss roll looks wonderful. Do you use a box cake or from scratch? I have been wanting to try my hand at a cake roll. With either vanilla or coffee ice cream.

We started snacking about halfway through the first quarter of the Ohio State-Georgia game. Saving the Prosecco for midnight, although we might crack it open if the Buckeyes win the game. Buckeyes up by 3 with just under 9 minutes left in the game.

Thank you - this is my third one in three weeks ? They're from scratch. The sponge cake recipe is almost as easy as a box mix. One thing I love about this style of cake is that rest periods are built in to the method. You mix and bake the cake and roll it up, then let it sit till it cools. Then unroll it, spread the filling and roll it back up. Refrigerate for a while and then decorate. It's very helpful for those of us with mobility issues and fatigue.

Oh, sorry. Here they are:

Galaxy Swiss Roll (without the ganache and sprinkles)

Pumpkin Swiss Roll

I made a chocolate one for Christmas, but I wasn't really happy with it, so I'm going to find another one.

were getting over the flu.
Felt well enough yesterday to try and eat something solid.
Had deli sliced roast beef, toasted buns with ajus.
Son had bagels and cream cheese with ham.
Hit the spot dinner.

Munky.
Glad you and yours are on the mend!! Here's to a better 2023 than how it started!

We are still in Ohio, but thanks to the wonders of the internet, we can follow the Buckeyes from most anywhere. ;)

This tablecloth was one of my Mom's kitchen ones. Loverly hung onto all of the good ones. I ended up tossing the Christmas cats one ( Meowy Christmas) when we got here because it definitely looked its age.
