I am in a doughnut wasteland. Nothing here compares to "Daylight Donuts" back home in OK. They made the best! Nothing like their Bearclaws! They were HUGE!

I usually satisfy myself with a Bavarian Cream filled Bismark or Long John. If I can find a decent Bearclaw, I'll make that my next favorite. After that, I'm not to picky.

I've had Krispy Kreme, as well as Cafe du Monde in New Orleans. I'm not really impressed with Krispy Kremes, as they're kind of small, and since we don't have one around here, they're never fresh. Cafe du Monde is good, although a couple beigniets aren't filling enough for me. Krispy Kreme and Cafe du Monde (beigniets and chickory) hold an edge in the market because their products are extremely fresh, usually having been made within minutes of your purchase.

I'm not a huge donut eater but when I do I usually grab the one thats sort of flat with a cream cheese like center. Again, I don't remember the name but my taste buds recall the flavor as I type. If their not available I will then grab me an apple fritter.

About the only donuts I don't like are the ones with the fake white cream stuff in them. It tastes like pure shortening & sugar.YUCK!! Some of my favorites are blueberry filled, chocolate glazed, custard eclares, sour cream cake, chocolate cake, plain glazed, & donut holes. I love when Krispy Kreme has their Hot & Fresh sign on & hubby picks some up on his way home from work. There's also a place in the town where I grew up called Carolina Cream & they have the best apple fritters with big chunks of apples in them!

Around here, crewsk, they're a long donut that's often filled with custard or that shortening-type filling and topped with chocolate icing. Sometimes you can find them with no filling and either white or chocolate icing on top.

My favorites are either the chocolate glazed or the glazed that's rolled in toasted coconut. Although I'd be hard-pressed to turn down any kind of donut! :)

Oh Allen, you have to have a HOT Krispy Kreme. I'm probably partial to those, because that is what we had growing up. Local comapny about 90 miles up the road.

there is no other donut that can compare to fresh hot plain glazed krispy kreme. they are so light and sweet, it's incredible. you'll think you've only eaten sweetened concrete before that.

i am also partial to dunkin donuts coconut covered chocolate donuts, especially if they're a little undercooked. the center of the donut stays a little gooey chocolatey, and everything tastes better with coconut.

Time to recount my favorite Krispy Kreme example again.

Sheila and I go to Vegas a lot, and in Vegas there is a Krispy Kreme at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino. Now, on the strip you have volcanoes, pirate shows, dancing fountains, etc... and when Krispy Kreme turns on the "Hot Now" sign and the conveyeror starts rolling the donuts under the wall 'o glaze, THE DONUTS GET MORE ATTENTION THAN THE DANCING FOUNTAINS!!!

When I went to the beach after I graduated from high school there was the cutest little boy that came around every morning to the hotel we were staying at selling HOT fresh Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts. At the hefty weight of 93 lbs. I had 1 dozen doughnuts EVERY morning - I squished them flat and ate them - heaven!!!!

LOL ronjohn, I believe that!!!

I have to disagree about KK doughnuts.
They are good...but, not that good. When they opened here
a few years ago the lines for the drive through were so long that the local police
had to come and direct traffic and we still have people driving from all over the place to get them but, to me they just aren't all that good. Tooo sweet. Being the cheapest
person on earth I do like the free one they give you while you're standing in line.

Would you believe we still don't have KKs around here. You can buy them in about any convenience store and in the grocery store but I'm sure they're very different fresh. Around here people opt for the local grocery stores or Dunkin Donuts

When my kids were growing up one of their favorite places to go was to the Krispy Kreme because they could watch the entire donut making process and then eat the hot ones right off the line. We never could decide what our favorites were but my little 5 yr old grandson likes chocolate chip with chocolate icing. Probably a lemon filled or custard filled, or a raspberry jelly filled could be my favorite, but then again, there are so many, I will have to keep testing.
