Ditto, except when it's a new recipe and my mind is going a million miles a minute trying to analyze everything. When it's a familiar dish, I'm in more of a receptive mode.

My favorite thing that I cook just for me is some angel hair pasta, olive oil, garlic seasoning, chili flakes, and a vegetable thrown in (usually frozen brocollli, but anything else will do). It only takes a few minutes to do, and just the act of doing it makes me feel good. I top it with some sort of strong cheese. It is something my husband can take or leave (he prefers a heartier pasta), so when I make it I feel like I'm pampering myself.

Cooking in general relaxes me... specially if there is moderate prep work involved. I like cooking things like Broccoli Cheese soup, lasagna, goulash, things that have several ingredients.

Things that require chopping, grating, searing, and minced.

A cup of this, a tsp of that, a pinch of spice... garnish with ?

Oh, I don't have that ingredient!!! What can I substitue with???????

Anything that can potentially become a "MASTERPIECE" and give me some sort of gratitude for my effort.

Yes, I find that all very relaxing!!!!
