Yeah, the breasts are more expensive here as well. But I don't buy the breasts that often. I buy them mostly for things like making Schnitzel or maybe a recipe that calls for them specifically. But we (myself and my son) prefer the thighs and the legs.
The thighs are my favourites too, even when I oven-bake them.
 
I made pictonguy's white bean and smoked tomato. I used cherry tomatoes. I have gotten away with eating those in limited quantity without removing the seeds. I'll see if I got away with it this time. It was really good and the cherry tomatoes were great in that dish with their sweet and tangy flavour. I used liquid smoke. Unless my arthritis reacts badly to this, I will be making it again. I had a couple of pieces of whole wheat baguette with it.

I do hope you manage okay with the tomatoes Taxy - they are in so many recipes, it would be great if you (or more specifically, your joints) could tolerate them occasionally. (y)
I do have a few twinges in my hip today, but not enough to call it pain and certainly not constant. That is probably because I had potatoes on Tuesday, even though I peeled them. It's easy to slip up when I should remember that it has to do with the total nightshade over a few days.
 
I found some chicken skin chips at the world market. They would have been yummy if not for so much salt.
I bought some in the form of a bagged snack, years ago. It was the brand name "flock", if I remember correctly. They make snackie-type chicken skin strips/crisps. I was so excited to find them, so I ordered some. But, sadly, they were so salty I couldn't eat them. As much as I hated to do it, I ended up throwing all the bags (snack-sized bags) away.

Sometime back, I made my own chicken skin snacks. I literally thought I had died and gone to heaven.
 
I have to make a big effort not to eat the crispy chicken skins, the fact that my cat loves them convinces me, I would feel guilty not giving them to him. Although, sometimes I just can't resist! 😏
He got them yesterday though, I don't like them slow-cooked. Happy cat. 😻
Well, you don't have to give them ALL to the cat ;)
 
People should have neither the salt nor the skins.... but what can I say 😁

Actually I never gave skins to my furry friends - especially the dogs - "thru the eye of a needle at 50 paces" - mean anything to you?
 
Anytime I cook chicken to make things like my homemade chicken pot pie, for example, my cat gets little bites of the skin, since I don't use the skin in the pot pie. She smells that chicken cooking and hangs all over me until I give her some. It's not salty, though. To cook the chicken for my pot pie, I usually just boil it, then pick the meat off the bones.

Well that seems promising Taxy. With a bit of careful planning you can hopefully include some tomatoes in your diet without suffering too much as a consquence.

I am very similar (not with the cat as I no longer have one), but if a recipe calls for chicken pieces, I will usually gently simmer some thighs in stock and then pick the meat off after it has sat in the stock for a couple of hours. (I never use the skin.)

My parents raised and trained hunting dogs, they could bring you a live bird with nary a feather missing.
And they fed them eggs and fowl scraps.
Now my visiting and babysitting furry friends were a different matter.
One son's dog killed 6 chickens, other son's dog got 7 - didn't even know she was out of the house 'til too late.
 
Cats are prone to kidney disease and salt is a contributing factor for them.

Mina loved to share potato chips. She died too young from kidney disease, and we worry that we contributed to it not realizing how bad it was for her.

I love salty crispy chicken skins, especially skins from thighs. I wouldn't enjoy just boiled unflavored ones.

My cat loves potato chips. I don't give them to her often, of course. But every now and then I'll break her off a couple of small pieces.

I lost a cat to kidney failure some time ago. He only ever ate cat food, though. He wasn't a 'people food' kitty. But he was a neutered male and had a lot of problems with UTI's and urinary obstruction. I can't count how many times I had him at the vet for treatment. But it kept coming back and eventually took him down. Poor little guy. I felt so bad for him. We even did at-home dialysis for a while, but he got to the point where he was unresponsive and just done with the whole thing.
