I love to eat out at Mexican restaurants. Some of my favorite dishes to order are: fajitas (chicken, beef, or vegetarian), chile rellenos, and shrimp tacos. Our local Mexican restaurant makes the best shrimp tacos served with fresh lime wedges to squeeze over the tacos. Once at another restaurant I ordered fajitas and it was served with a chipotle sauce, it was so yummy.

So, what is your favorite Mexican dish?

I was amazed to see that my tastes for Mexican are about normal - fajitas, guacamole, salsa, flan, fried ice cream. I should have been born in Mexico, instead of Florida.

I love mexican food, period!!But my favorites are sour cream enchiladas, chile rellenos and tequitos.

Wet burritos, especially from the Flamingo Restarant in Muskegon, Michigan! And I have to admit their meat and gravy nachos are excellent also...

I adore mexican food! It is muy perfecto!

I don't like when people say "you forgot to add the __________". I mean, after all, there are only 10 choices. But, I will add that, aside from the guacamole as being my favorite (there's a big surprise), I also love burritos of any shape and size and the number one favorite is beef flour flautas. (I just made some for dinner on Friday)

i live in california, where mexican food is plentiful and cheap.... if someone says to me "wanna go get mexican" they usually mean burritos. i eat a burrito at least once a week, with an occasional taco thrown in for variety. i love fish tacos! and veggie burritos with avocado.

I voted other as I really like shrimp ceviche (shrimp, cilantro, green onion, white onion, lime, chopped tomatoes, served with saltine crackers and hot sauce and extra lime).

I like just about everyting, but, my favorite is a torta, it's simply a sandwich bun, that has mashed avocado, refried beans, lettuce, tomato, sliced red onion rings then some mayo and topped with pounded breaded chicken callled milenese..I also love chili rellenos, but like the pablano chiles instead of the long greens.

Mmmmmmm, this thread sure wets the appetite! I'm actually not too big on overly hot things, so I tend to stay away from the spicier peppers. That aside I love Mexican too, just about anything in a wrap/tortilla is a-okay with me!

Mexican desserts (traditional or "Tex-Mex") are great too!

Well, like Indian cuisine Mexican food doesn't have to make you breath fire, just skip the jalapeno pepper!! We love chicken fajitas, too, but we just can't get that wonderful mesquite smoked flavour...grrr!! Does anyone have any suggestion on this?

We also looooove guacamole, we use it not only on fajitas but grilled chicken fish, hamburgers and other sandwiches, we even tried it on falafels one time and was quite good!! (some eclectic hybrid creation, really!!)

Also we adopt pico de gallo onto different things in the way similar to guacamole. Also brilliant.

Having lived in Texas for years I became quite familiar with "Tex Mex", but I only have a superficial knowledge on the authentic Mexican fare. This is one aspect I would love to study more when I get a chance for it:)

Thanx jkath! We will look for it next time we go to Castroni, a big food store specialises in imported foods... wish me luck!!:)

Mexican food is not my favorite thing. They have all these different names for things, but it's mostly the same ingredients in different shapes. I don't like black beans or kidney beans, and can't stand hominy, so anything containing those ingredients is  to me.
I do enjoy it upon occasion, though, as long as I have plenty of guacamole, sour cream & salsa!
I have a wonderful recipe for chicken enchiladas, and a good Mexican bean dip that I fix once in a while. I make beef burritos sometimes, and for a snack for the kids, I spread re-fried beans on flour tacos, sprinkle with cheese, roll up and heat in the oven till the cheese melts. They love it.

fish tacos??? I live in Louisiana where seafood is plentiful, as well as Mexican, but I don't think I have ever even heard of a fish taco!!! Not sure I want to go there!!!:ermm: I love chimichangas!! I have never made one, but love to eat them at my favorite Mexican restaurant!

I tried tuna steak tacos when I went to Corpus Cristi once... fillet of tuna was marinated then grilled then diced to fit into the taco shell, with usual tomatoes, lettuce, cheese etc... it was quite good, unfortunately I couldn't pinpoint how the marinade was prepared though...
