What do you do with pickled lettuce?
My parents would eat the lettuce, instead of pickles, and drink the pickling juice. I only drink the juice. Back in the day, in Soviet Union, nobody ate lettuce as is. This particular lettuce was the only kind available about this time of year, early June. The time when vegetables are still not available, too early, an the pickles supply was pretty much gone,. This is what was used to supplement pickled vegies.

Just like arugula, frisee needs to be mixed with other greens, and the right dressing. I don't think I would like it by itself. I do like the texture.

I've never had it anywhere but a fine dining restaurant. I don't recall ever seeing it in a grocery store... perhaps someplace like Sprouts would have it.

Frisée is in any grocery store here. Also in my garden. We also grow arugula which we eat as a salad without other greens.

I think Costco used to have in their big box of organic, baby salad leaves. I haven't bought that in at least 10 years, so I don't remember for sure.
