I have a set of these. I've had them a long time. The silicone (inside the grip part) is starting to peel away and I need new ones. One of the mitts, in fact, has an opening now in the tip where the fingertips go and I have to be very careful not to accidentally touch a hot dish with my actual fingers. So yeah, it's time for new ones. I'd like to find something that doesn't cost too much, but still protects the forearms. I have a bad habit of burning my arms when taking stuff out of the oven and these elbow-length oven mitts have been a lifesaver for me.

I’ve got longer gauntlet aga gloves for normal ovens because it’s seems it’s my lower arms get the most surprise bites but I’ll quite often just use 2 tea towels.

Then I have some super high heat ‘black rock’ gloves that go up to 500c (932F) which aren’t my favourite because even though temp wise they were the best I could find (and still have some control) both the pizza stone and the cast iron sizzle skillet tray go way over this at around 700c/1300f so unless you’re super fast getting the skillet out they will start to melt a little and get way too hot.

I suppose I’m in the market for some furnace gloves but they look very cumbersome and a lot of them only go to 500c 🤷‍♀️

Oh - you mean Oven mitts?!!! The kind that are long and go up the arm. I've burned myself repeatedly! Like ones for a barbecue.

Yes gauntlets are like mitts but go further up the arm, well at least in the UK that would be the differentiation 👍

I find it’s reaching into the back of a low down oven (like a range) that always catches my arm in the middle 😖

I use tea towels. There's always 1 or2 in the kitchen.

See, I'm not good with using towels to get something out of the oven. I have to have my hands completely covered.

I ordered some oven mitts from Walmart. They got good reviews and were on sale. Plus I need them. So I went ahead and grabbed them. Thanks @SEEING-TO-BELIEVE. Your post gave me a nice reminder that I really need to replace my old ones.

We have pot holders and other gloves. One thing I use a lot are these gloves

I find them particularly useful with nitrile gloves over to handle hot foods in the smoker, but I can wear these and turn over the bagel boards that have been in the over at 450F without an issue or grab the bagels out when they are done.
