I roasted a couple of duck legs with baby potatoes and chunks of carrot, then made a sauce out of the juices in the pan, by adding butter, finely chopped anchovy and a finely chopped preserved lemon. The vegetables and sauce were delicious! The duck, a little on the tough side, though the flavour was pretty good. Now of course, I have a jar of preserved lemons and a jar of anchovies to use up....

This year is just Angela and I and neither of us are turkey fans, although a left over sandwich with stuffing and real cranberry sauce is pretty hard to resist.

Anyway it's local lamb rack tonight with ratatouille and boulanger potatoes and a wine we've been looking forward to which is an Isaac Fernandez Ribera del Duero Reserva 2019 a Tempranillo from Spain. This is also part of Angela's birthday "celebrations" that last a few days. :giggle:

Since mr bliss was traveling a little to see a baseball team with his grand daughter on it. I spent the afternoon inventing a Smoky Sweet Fire Roasted Chili we can eat and will like. It is vegan but it would be good with 1/2 the beans and some ground beef added in place of missing beans. I also cooked up some potatoes to serve it over. It would be good over potatoes, veggie rice, or macaroni.
