I’m going to do a lot of cooking today.
Beef and mushroom pasta
Beef and mushroom lasagna
Debating on Black eyed peas and mushroom curry, no coconut in this recipe
Carrot cake
Lemon pound cake.
I might as well make a big mess so my husband can do all the clean up at once.

Batch cooking day?
Good luck, may the kitchen gods be with you.

Another hour or so and I'll be eatin' !!! :)

Well, our refrigerator purge turned out quite nicely. Glenn finished up some leftover soup with some fresh dinner rolls. I reheated my catfish, fried okra and hushpuppies from yesterday's meal at Cracker Barrel in the air fryer. We knocked off the confetti cake for dessert.

As Scarlett O'Hara said in Gone with the Wind, "Tomorrow's another day!"

Gone with the Wind,
I vividly remember seeing that in 1957, in Germany. The whole family went and my father was very proud we were able to get the tickets and we were all excited to see it. At 4 hours long there was an intermission half way and we were all out in the alley to get some fresh air.

You have a husband who will clean the kitchen...and do it properly? Nice!

Tried another steak but was a bit of a failure. Still tasty but not a wowser. Still not used to the stove, thought I found everything then at the middle of cooking realized I was missing something - threw me right off. Still.... happy tummy, especially seeing as last couple of meals were Ø.

Beets, steak smothered with a gravy of shallots, mushrooms & spinach. L/O mashers which went a little soupy. All yummy though.

We both know where our husband's would be. Watching sports, the back of their eyelids, paint drying...anything that doesn't involve cleanup!
True, it’s a running joke here that if an unappealing job is on the horizon Mr IAP will suddenly announce he has “invoices to do”
He’s never too thrilled when we say we’ll wait for him 😂

But this part might surprise you, he has a bit of an obsession with doing the dishwasher!
It stems from 6 years ago when I was away for a couple of months and the boys were still at school, one thing he learnt the hard way was to get the dishwasher on asap or piles of chaos ensue.
It stuck and he does the dishwasher on auto pilot 90% of the time!
He’s to the point now where if I do it I can feel him watch me stacking it to make sure it’s being done correctly and occasionally he’ll say “Oh I always put that in the bottom” 😀
I just smile and carry on.
Cracks me up though, a million jobs to do and he develops a thing for doing the dishwasher - long may it continue 😆

I made a "pasta e fagioli" for lunch - pasta and cannellini bean soup -, followed by "salscìccia e friarelli" - sausages with rabe broccoli or rapini as you call them and also how they are called in other parts of Italy. :)
So many different names for this type of broccoli, we also call them "cime di rapa", I think they also translate as "turnip tops".
Here in the South, we really like to confuse people, the term "friarelli" also refers to the little green peppers that are available during the Summer months. :D
