We're drinking smoothies lately for a lot of reasons. Mr bliss has some dental work to do so we're putting our salad in our smoothies so he doesn't have to chew everything. It's just a break for him. We're both 'elderly' and this gives us extra energy and lots of vitamins and importantly fiber. The fiber lowers inflammation throughout our bodies. We're fighting disease and old age. Do it for the love of you, FOR YOU.

Today's ingredients:
rehydrated watermelon peel (oddly!)
matcha powder
alma, turmeric, black pepper, and black cumin powder
1 head of romaine lettuce
2 tomatoes
2 mandarin oranges
water
frozen mango chunks
1/2 lb of frozen thawed spinach
and it didn't taste sweet enough so I added 2 T of honey

It's a wonderful pure green color. Just a little sweet. 4 Pints! Enough for 1 or 2 days for the 2 of us.

That's a lot of carbs.

I mostly drink them before a workout in the early morning so lately I've gone coffee, protein powder and some milk. Sometimes matcha for a change.

Usually I make smoothies to use up all the extra fruits and berries I had to freeze do to abundance. My wife also has a collection of frozen fruit she puts in her yogurt every morning (primarily mango) so I have that to choose from too, along with the bananas that got a little over ripe, and I dont want to throw them out. I also sometimes buy frozen fruit pulp to add a little tropical flavor ( passion fruit, and guava along with others I dont remember off hand)

In addition, not necessarily for smoothies, but I also have some various mushroom powders (Reishi, Chaga ).I put in certain drinks as well , although I havent made them in awhile .

I only make smoothies in the summer. I use frozen fruit, because it has more flavor (IMO), and I blend it while still frozen, so I can use less ice.

I don't do kale, spinach wheat grass or any of that other "superfood" stuff. Just fruit, and sometimes a little milk if I want a creamier smoothie.
