I started going again last year when they reopened my childhood cinema and now charge only £4 a ticket. It's tatty round the edges but I love a bit of faded glory.
So Ive been a few times recently. One was an anime series they were showing that my eldest son was into.
Another was a war film everyone raved about, no idea what that one was so no need to recommend it

And the last one 28 years later the bone temple (enjoyed that).
I missed the remastered Harold Lloyd series as I was away, would have loved to have seen that at the cinema.
I think they're doing Jaws next
It's a nice thing to do together as a family, especially as doing anything together seems to be ridiculously expensive.
£16 for four tickets is a bargain. Even their snacks aren't as overpriced as usual.
We just don't watch TV together like I used to when I was growing up.
There's so much choice everyone seems to stream precisely what floats their boat at a time that suits them best.
We do usually have a shared series on the go (at the moment that's 'Fallout') and most weekends we're together we will agree on something to watch for lazing after a large lunch but the cinema is a bit special.
No phones for starters, no pausing it because someone missed something or there's a knock on the door or someone has remembered something time sensitive they forgot to do.
We're a captive audience doing the same thing at the same time in silence.
The bit where we spill out of the doors saying "What did you think?" and talking about it all the way home is my favourite part.
