Which wool socks last without getting thinner quickly?

so now i've a question about socks
are wool socks like Samsox really a waste of money because after a few washes in almost cold water they are going much thinner?

i don't use a drier

It's been my experience that any wool socks from L.L. Bean are excellent. Now, after nearly 20 years, the ones I have are just like new. Just wash in cold water and dry on low temp.

Had never heard of Samsox till now. Just looked them up and they start at about $35.00 a pair. I don't call that cheap!
