Wild Rice in Soup... cook first or not?

I am making a soup tonight....

I want to use wild rice. The kind that takes 45 minutes to cook, not the
parboiled kind.

The question: Should I cook it first then add it to the soup, or can I just add it to the soup about an hour before I want to serve it?
