I used this method to cook hot dogs to take on a band trip with the high school kids. We used coolers, filled them with hot dogs, poured boiling water over them and put them on the bus. When we got to the destination, the dogs were perfect temp and we served them up to the kids with minimal mess. Dumped the water on the grass when we were finished. Worked great!

I did 2 Kobe tenderloins that way New Years Eve it it was great. Perfectly medium rare end to end, side to side. Works good for eggs too.

this is neat, but the only thing that would worry me is cooking in plastics. are the bags safe to eat food from at high temps for somewhat extended periods? does anything happen to the liner in the cooler?
