Thanks again for sharing about your favourite housewarming. It reminds me of when we bought our current place and got possession on my birthday. DH decided to through a surprise birthday there while I was intending to go over to clean and prep for painting - I was in grubs and had been packing and cleaning at our old house all day. After about 10 minutes of being in the stinky dirty new place with no furniture, the first of 30 people showed up. At first I was furious and most of them didn't know that there was no furniture or that we hadn't moved in yet. Some did get the message from dear sweet DH to bring chairs, but not enough. We opened all the windows and people gathered in every room in the house while a bunch of youth from our church started tearing off the wall paper in the hall for us. The food was an ice cream cake and a Costco pizza (yes that is it). Yet that is the most memorable birthday/housewarming I've ever had. People still talk about it and it was 3 years ago!

I'm sorry that it took me so long to reply. I bought a little mutt in Hawaii (you have to understand that the quarantine laws there are prohibitive) as a terrier-chihuaua mix. I got her to the mainland (and expensive and stressfull problem) and everyone (vets and breeders included) told me she was a JR. She was the love of our lives for 15 years. Everyone wanted her. Even when we sold houses, people asked us if the "love puppy" came with the house! We bred her to a known JR when we lived in Virginia. I recommended that each buyer (not much, just love) fix their dogs ASAP. About a year after selling off allof the pups, someone asked me if I could find a breeding gal for him. I called this man and he said, "CLaire, you gave me the joy of my life. I bought her for my daughter, but she is my best pal. I took your advice, and had her fixed as soon as she was old enough." I feel like I did a good job.
JRs are tough, because they are too smart. Ridiculously enough, Keiki, my geriatric, isn't the brightest bulb on the tree. She tries hard, and she is old.
I don't know your circumstances, but send me an email.

Claire-you mentioned in your post that you have JRT-I just lost mine-she meant so much to me-she was only 4 and was taken away tragically and unnecessarily. Over two months ago and I still cry daily. I don't know why I'm bothering you with this other than sometimes I feel better talking to fellow JRT parents. Cherish your time with him (her?) it goes by far too quickly- Bob (aka-"Smoke King")
