It's not too late at all to plant potatoes. Planting the middle of March, as is usually done around here, is really too early. Last year our potato plantlings rotted in the ground and when we replanted in late April, the potatoes did very well. Even planting them now, they will mature by late August. They could even be planted up to one month from now and they would be mature about harvest time.

are your lettuce, spinach, carrots and peas up yet? I haven't planted much from seed yet, spinach has been up long enough that the first true leaves are about the size of a silver dollar, and the carrots went in over the weekend. I have a few bedraggled spinach plants I overwintered, only enough for dh's sandwiches. It has been way too wet here, planted the potatoes last Saturday, a month later than usual. We have transplanted the onions, broccoli, cabbage, and a few parsley plants out into the garden, but they have shown little growth. I know I will be trying to harvest spinach for a salad in about a week!

I am so happy for you both! I remember how the graveyards were tough on the whole family! Oh, I am finally walking better - will always need a cane but I bought a purple one covered in butterflies LOL!!!

You are very welcome! I just read in your birthday thread that hubby has a new job? Does it keep him closer to home more often? I sure hope so, specially for the winters.

Hey Suzi, saw that you were on earlier and just thought I would say hi! It has been so long. If you are having problems with this interface go to the bottom of the screen and select version 1 instead of version 2. It will take you back to the old way. Hope all is well with you and yours!
