Why do you cook with wine?

Thanks for all the replies. I sort of got an idea now. So, the next time I make some chicken I am gonna toss some wine in it and see what happens. Could I use a red wine with chopped meat or steaks then?

Why do you cook with wine?

I'm new to cooking and am learning by borrowing recipes from online and trying to make them. I recently made a chickedn dish that called for white wine and sherry. It came out great. but left me with the question: Why do you cook with wine? What does it do to the food? What does it add to...

What happens/ What do you do when you go for shopping at a suppermarket?

I write a list of what I NEED, and plan on that list to be half the list. The other half of the list is what's on sale. If I don't need laundry detergent but they have 100oz for $2.99, that just made the list. Tuna is .99 a can? Tuna made the list. Once I believe my cart is about as full as...

First Post! Preparing Chicken for Stir Fry?

I work 12-22 so I normally eat at the cafeteria. But I am recently married, so I need to start cooking alot more at home. Hopefully this forum will help us feed ourselves well. To prepare chicken for a stir fry (or even a salad), do I just take a raw breast (cleaned and dried) and cut it...
